A daily routine can help eliminate any unknowns that your loved one experiences. With the help of their at home care provider, you and they can create a daily routine that addresses the needs of your loved one and also provides them with a game plan of what is to occur each and every day.
One of the nice things about a daily routine is that your parent’s at home care aide can add and remove items as needed to adjust for the day ahead. One thing to keep in mind though is that new items should be added a few days in advance to help prepare your loved one for the event.
Also, as you create a daily routine, make sure that you and your loved one’s at home care provider leave time for extra activities. You never know when you may want to take their scheduled quiet time and go have a picnic or visit the local aquarium.
Creating a daily schedule or routine is quite easy, but it does take some work to make sure you include all of the things necessary on it. An example of an evening routine could look like this:
The key to a daily routine is to list activities that need to be completed, but disregard the time slots. You do not want to put 9:00 am shower time or 10:00 am breakfast, as these times may change from day to day and it will only cause confusion.
